A macro can be defined several different ways, but a simple definition is that a macro is a command that is part of an application and executes a series of commands. A macro performs a task or series of tasks, and many times these tasks are repetitive or frequently performed tasks. Here are a few examples where a macro could be useful in an accounting system such as Sage Accpac ERP:
- importing data from an outside source
- changing employee numbers, and
- performing data integrity checks.
Macros can be useful and tremendous time-savers for many different reasons. Contact us today to discuss a client-specific manual process you are experiencing, or check out our component catalog to see if we offer an out-of-the box solution!

We have gotten several inquiries lately from business partners to know whether we can integrate SharePoint with other systems. The answer is YES! Take a look at this example of how we’ve integrated SharePoint with SageCRM and Bugzilla, and let us know if you have a specific request. Integrating disparate systems is one of our favorite things to do!

PCI-DSS is a set of requirements for enhancing payment account data security. Its standards include requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design, and other measures created to protect customer account data. Developed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International (the founders of the PCI Security Standards Council), PCI-DSS is designed to facilitate global adoption of consistent data security measures.
According the PCI Data Security Standards, you must be using a PA-DSS compliant payment application by July 1, 2010. Are you ready?

There are 12 requirements that fall into six categories:
- Build and Maintain a Secure Network: Install and maintain a firewall and use unique, high-security, passwords with special care to replace default passwords.
- Protect Cardholder Data: Whenever possible, cardholder data must not be stored. You must also encrypt any data passed across public networks, including your shopping cart and Web-hosting providers.
- Maintain a Vulnerability Management Program: Use anti-virus and keep it up date. Develop and maintain secure operating systems and payment applications. Ensure the applications you use are compliant (see www.visa.com/pabp).
- Implement Strong Access Control Measures: Access to cardholder data – both electronic and physical – should be on a “need-to-know” basis. Ensure those people with access have a unique ID and password. Do not share logon information.
- Regularly Monitor and Test Networks: Track and monitor all access to networks and cardholder data. Ensure you have a regular testing schedule for security systems and processes including firewalls, patches and anti-virus.
- Maintain an Information Security Policy: It’s critical that your organization has a resource for governing your company’s data security. Ensure you have a policy and that it’s disseminated and updated regularly.

As you may be aware, the five major credit card networks established the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) as a set of requirements for merchants to use when configuring their IT and payment-processing environments. If you store, process, or transmit cardholder data, your company may be subject to these requirements.
Merchants must comply by July 1, 2010, or risk losing the ability to process credit cards. For complete details on these requirements, visit the official PCI Security Standard Web site at: http://pcisecuritystandards.org.
Check back soon for more information on this important topic!

One of DataQuest’s largest clients, a garbage truck parts supplier, was in danger of losing a multimillion dollar contract if they couldn’t integrate their purchase order system with their customer’s supply chain management system. If DataQuest couldn’t help with this integration, DataQuest would likely lose the parts supplier as a client. Although DataQuest implemented a Web store using Iciniti that integrated with their client’s Sage Accpac ERP system, they were still unable to integrate with the parts supplier’s client’s Ariba supply chain management software. So, DataQuest brought in CodePartners to build the bridge. With only two weeks to spare, CodePartners completed the integration. Not only did DataQuest keep their client, but the client saved its contract and the integration was even expanded to other companies.

We love doing business with Sage Business Partners! In order to better serve you, we must consider changes to the terms and conditions under which we provide services and software in the future.
Three of the changes that will most affect business partners are below:
- We will now send out quotes using our terms and conditions document instead of just an email. This helps us formalize the process and keep track of outstanding quotes so we can follow up with you and answer your questions regarding projects in a timely and orderly fashion.
- Annual software maintenance will now be a part of our quotes.
- Payment terms will also be modified in the proposed terms and conditions to include a deposit of 30% before beginning development on projects followed by a 40% payment at the time delivery, and the final 30% payment upon sign-off and acceptance of project.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the changes. We will be happy to provide you with a copy of the new terms and conditions upon request. We look forward to continuing to work with you in years to come!
