How to create an Intacct trigger with HTTP Post

by Jacky Xu

Recently we had an Intacct project that used a trigger of object “A” to delete certain records from object “B.” Since the amount of deleted records is not fixed and the document template is a fixed format, we cannot use the trigger with an Intacct API call to do this. So, I added a web API controller (method of C#) to delete the records. Then the Intacct trigger calls the web API controller with the HTTP post. Also, I already posted the web API to our web site. I got a lot of help from my coworkers and Intacct support while developing and configuring the solution. Here’s how I got the trigger to work:

1. Create a web API to delete records. Use some web API code like this:

Now the controller name is “Test” and action name is “DeleteRecords”. They are used in the trigger. Also you need a website address like https://testsite.com/

2. We also need a document template to send the content to our web API when the trigger is running. Use this content:

3. Note you have to save the document template with encoding “Ansi.” At the beginning, I can never get any data from the trigger call for the document template saved as “utf-8.” It’s very important and took me several hours to find it and solve it. I saved the document as “.txt”.

4. Let’s see the trigger configuration UI.

The target URL is your full web API address.

5. Now perform the operation and see what happens.
