OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is the recognition of printed and written text characters. This functionality is compatible with Microsoft Office and here is how OCR checks your image's file, translates it into text, then saves this information into a text file.
First, install Microsoft Office Document Imaging 2007 on your device. If run Office 2010 or higher, you may install SharePoint Designer 2007, which includes the Office Document Imaging program, for free.
Now, you can create a new project through VS2010, which you start by adding a windows form application.
Then, follow this workflow: solution explorer >> right click on references >> select the COM tab >>. Finally, select Microsoft Office Document Imaging 12.0 Type Library.
Once you complete these steps, add a button to check the program folder and retrieve the selected image file (.jpg). Once you select your image, convert the image to text and create a text file located in same folder.
It may look like this:
This is the text file the program created.
Finally, you see the sample code of the image file converted to text.
I hope you find this example useful as you explore the Optical Character Recognition program in further detail.
