MID MARKET ERP DEVELOPMENT

I recently worked on a custom project using Intacct Platform Services. One of the custom objects I created is a look-up table with a many-to-many relationship with AR Invoice and Customer standard objects. When this object is in the View mode, it must show the associated customer’s name. Thus, I defined a related field to accomplish that. The only problem with a related field is that the user cannot sort by clicking on the header, like a custom field as shown below, because Intacct cannot index a Related Field as described in the Intacct user manual.
Here is my solution:
I created a custom field that is indexed and sortable. Then, I used a trigger to duplicate the related field. To hide the customer name column and display the custom field, simply change the look-up table to view mode.
Now, as shown in Figure 3, you can sort with the new custom field I created.
